Motorola Moto G Successor Will Also Be Called Moto G
Motorola is hosting an event in India on September 5 where
it will launch the successor to the popular Moto G. Earlier today; the
smartphone was spotted on an Indian import manifest indicating that India would
be one of the first markets where the phone would be launched. While the device
was earlier referred to as the Moto G2, we now have evidence that it would
simply be called “Moto G.”
We have come across a photo taken at a Flipkart warehouse
that shows the box of the Moto G successor and surprisingly the name on the box
is Moto G. Flipkart has been Motorola’s exclusive retail partner and it seems
the arrangement will continue with the second generation smartphones as well.
Earlier today, we also came across a report claiming that the successor to the
Moto X will be called “The new Moto X.”
From what we know so far, the forthcoming Moto G will
feature a 5-inch 720p display and a Snapdragon 400 processor with 1GB RAM. The
smartphone is also expected to feature an upgraded 8-megapixel primary camera,
2-megapixel front-facing camera, water and dust resistance, dual-SIM
connectivity, and most importantly microSD card slot to expand the internal
storage. In terms of design, it will feature narrower bezels and Moto E-like
front facing speaker.
The Moto G will face some tough competition from the Xiaomi
Redmi 1S, which will go on sale tomorrow on Flipkart. Xiaomi’s entry-level
smartphone offers similar specifications but is priced at only Rs 5,999.
